What Kids Learn

Did you know that category 5 hurricanes are becoming more common in our world today? Hurricanes are causing a lot of damage in the lives of people and our earth.  In this project kids are going to learn all about hurricanes, the effects of a hurricane, how people affect hurricanes, who is helping and how we can help. Kids then take action by applying what they have learned about weather, bodies of water and climate to raise awareness about the impact of hurricanes. They create a news report and 3D category 5 hurricane diorama and share how we can help.

Common Core Reading (CCSS):

  • Informational/NonFiction Standards R.I 1-10 for grades K-2.
  • Writing Standards W1,2,4,5,6,7,9 for grades K-2.
