Discover Your Mission

Students uncover their mission and the challenge they will address in this project. In Save the Rainforests they will create a PSA to help raise awareness about rainforest conservation.

Build Life Habits

Students learn, practice, apply, and reflect on the habit of impact-awareness through hands-on literacy and creative activities.

Life habits are career ready skills aligned with the CASEL framework.

Online Lessons

Students explore the rainforest, what makes them special and why they need help through interactive online lessons with text chats, videos, games, activities, discussion prompts and debates.

Hands-on Learning

Online lessons, paired with hands-on activities, help student deepen their understanding of the rainforest through hands on science, art and ELA activities.

Purposeful Reading

In every project, students extend learning through a full-length, digital informational text. Students meet different rainforest species, explore habitats, read about animal adaptations and see how changemakers around the world are helping out.

Diverse Virtual Field Trips

Throughout, students learn from experts at the Birmingham Zoo where they meet “Terc” the tenrec and other rainforest species housed at the zoo. All projects feature diverse experts who help students explore our world
