B. Would you Want to Read it?

It is time for you to start planning your story. Before Regine begins writing her story, she thinks about what her story is about. She comes up with her characters, why she is writing, and a plot – what will happen in the story? 

Here’s an example from Maribelle. She’s in 5th grade. Read Maribelle’s plan.

Directions: Read the plan below and answer:

  • Does this sound like a comic book you would want to read?
  • How do you think the Maribelle can make it better?

B. Planning Your Comic Book

It’s time to begin planning your comic book. Use the graphic organizer in you Mission Log to being planning your comic. When planning, make sure to ask yourself:

  • What is the purpose? Are you trying to teach the reader something? Are trying to get them to take action?
  • Who is your main character, or hero? Does your comic book have a villain? If yes, who is it? Remember to include really interesting characters to keep the reader’s attention.
  • What is the plot? What problem is your main character trying to solve? What are the events that will allow happen the character to solve the problem?
