The Waste Problem
Did you know that each American throws away about 5 pounds of waste each day? That is a lot of trash! The good news is, some of this trash can be recycled. When materials are recycled, they are made into new objects. Glass, paper, plastic, and metal are materials that can be recycled.Â
Sorting the Recycling
Recyclable objects such as newspapers, cans, and bottles must be sorted. They are sorted by their materials. For example, all the glass objects go together and all plastic objects go together.Â
