B. Meet Karima Grant

Karima is from Senegal, a country in western Africa.  It is so cool that we get to learn from her even though she is so far away!

Karima is the founder of ImagiNation Afrika. ImagiNation Afrika helps kids learn through play.  Kids learn by building, making and creating. They solve problems and create new solutions. They do all this with carefully designed exhibits and activities that help them learn. And do you know the best part? The kids help design the learning experiences. The goal of ImagiNation Afrika is to help kids make the world a better place.  WOW!

Can you find Senegal?

C. Being a Designer

D. What is an Interactive Exhibit?

Directions: Look at the pictures of the two museums below. How are they differnt?

Many museums just want you to look at the things in it. Others want you to explore with your hands. An interactive exhibit is a hands-on way of teaching people. It might be building something, or moving something, or playing a game. The experience teaches people about a topic by using their five senses. Not just sight!

Please Touch Museum

There is a children’s museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania called the Please Touch Museum.  At The Please Touch Museum children – and adults! –  are asked to touch everything – as well as use their other senses to interact with the exhibits there to learn.

For your project, you will be creating an interactive exhibit, but on a smaller scale.  Think something that would fit on top of a table. The goal of your exhibit will be to educate or inspire people who see it to take action!
