Types of Assessments

Typically, assessment happens at the end of a task. But if we want to help students grow and see the act of learning as part of their growth, we can’t just assess at the end of a project. We need to view all learning as a chance to “assess” and reflect on growth. 

 

There are two types of assessment- formative and summative.

But what counts as assessment? Anything you do in your school that helps students see growth on an outcome and provides a meaningful chance for you or your students to see and reflect on that growth can and should count as assessment.
