2. Supporting Student Growth and Reflection

A. Alesso's Reflection

We’re going to start with some reflections from Alesso – he’s a 5th grader who recently completed his first Rock by Rock project.

Directions: Watch this short clip and ask yourself:

  1. What about his response resonates with the types of experiences and reflections you want to be true for your students?
  2. How is this clip evidence of Alesso being on a path to build the skills, confidence and agency he needs to thrive in life?

B. Voice, Agency, and Confidence

Our mission is to make sure students like Alesso build the voice, agency, confidence and skills they need to thrive in our rapidly changing world. To do this, students need to have a strong sense of who they are as learners and, more broadly, people.

As we go through this training, we will explore strategies to help students reflect on their strengths, challenges, and goals, empowering them to take ownership of their learning and develop the skills and habits they need to succeed.
