A. Empathy and Ethics

In this mission we are going to explore a lot of questions related to ethics and empathy. Those should we, could we questions about plastic eating bugs and weather control are all about ethics and empathy. and answer these two questions in your mission log

Directions: Read this short article about empathy and ethics, Then answer these questions in your mission log: 

  • What’s the difference between ethics and empathy? 
  • Can you think of an ethical choice you faced in your real life? Think about friends, family, games, or other activiites. 

 

B. Empathy - walking in others shoes

We’re going to hear from Jude again. Empathy is putting yourself in someone’s shoes. Listen to Jude talking about what it’s like to live with hemophilia. As you listen, think about: 

  • How does hemophilia impact Jude’s daily life and how does this make him feel? How do you know?
  • Do you face any challenges that impact your health on a day to day basis? How do you address those challenges?

C. How Hemophilia Works

To help us better understand how hemophilia works, we’re going to study blood clotting and see if we can create an accurate model of what happens to Jude’s blood.

Ethics is all about asking questions about if we should do things.

  • What if there was a cure for hemophilia – do you think Jude would take it? Why or why not?
