4.4 Strategy 3: Using Text in Comics NC

A. Comic Book Strategy 3: Using Text

The final strategy we will learn is how to add text to our comic books. Comic book writers use different kinds of text to tell the story.

B. Practice Using Text

Regine uses speech bubbles to show what a character is saying, thought bubbles to show what a character is thinking, sounds to show what sounds are being made, and captions to show narration in the story.

Directions: Drag the different types of text into the comic book panels to tell a story. There is no right or wrong answer, and you do not need to use all of the text. Try out the activity a few times to see what you like best.

C. Your Turn

Strategy Finder: What text might you use in your comic book? Turn to the panel brainstorm page of your Mission Log and add speech bubbles, thought bubbles, sounds, or captions.
